How To Read Cards … written by Tarot and Astrology Expert Maria Hayes

Reading tarot cards is one amazing way for a person to be guided by the universe.

As the world becomes increasingly hectic, divine guidance is increasingly needed.

Through listening to what the cosmos have to say, a person will be able to decide for themself whatever it is that they want to do with their life.

However, getting a tarot reading can be challenging, especially when there are no professional readers around you.

There is also the fact that some “readers” are actually scammers. They do not actually know how to do a tarot reading, and would only give you the interpretations that you want to hear. The next best option would be to learn how to read tarot cards by yourself.

So how do you learn how to read cards? The process is surprisingly simple.

Although there can be moments of confusion, you best believe that the universe will gradually lead you back to the right way.

Now, if you are ready to start your journey, read on to learn how to read cards!

How to Read Cards for Personal Guidance

Get Cards That Speak To Your Soul

Perhaps the hardest part of doing a tarot reading is getting cards that actually fit your needs.
There are so many types and designs, that it can be overwhelming at times!

But truth be told, there is a way for you to know which one is right for you. As you browse through all your options, assess which one you feel drawn to.

You will know the right card when you see it. Once you finally see which one you truly want to have, go and grab it without hesitation! You and the card were meant for one another, and you must not let it go.

Find a Sacred Space

Having a place specifically designed for you to hold your tarot readings is important.

This is important so that divine energies will be concentrated in a specific area, and you will be able to hold one successful reading or another.

However, you also need to make sure that you will be able to cleanse that area as much as you possibly can. One way for you to do this would be by using incense, herbs, and other natural aromatics and implementing them in a ritual that suits you best.

The sacred space also doesn’t have to be fancy.

It can be a small corner of your room where you can store your divining implements with care.

What matters is that you treat this area with respect, and that you do not use it for other purposes aside from tarot reading or other forms of divination.

Be Straightforward

Questions are the core of a tarot reading. Thus, asking the right one is essential.

However, you also need to remember that your question must be open-ended and cannot be answered with a yes or no.

The reason for this will be discussed later on, but you must keep your questions in mind as you do the next two steps.

Shuffle the Cards and Lay Them Out

Shuffling your deck can ensure that the cosmic energies will place the right cards to where they should be.

It will then aid in giving you the answer that you need for your question to be
answered.

Although the human and luck element is there, it will also be your way to put your trust in the universe.

Since you are still a beginner, it is also fitting that you use the most basic card layout.

This is the three-card spread, where each card represents something intimately tied to your question.

To do this, you must cut your deck three times and get one from each pile. Then, you have to flip your cards and interpret them as your situation needs.

One way to interpret your spread is by assigning them the roles of past, present, and future respectively.

Another would be cause, effect, and call to action. Again, this part must be open to your desired effect, especially since not all questions are the same.

Interpret the Cards

As the cards are laid out in front of you, assess what they can possibly mean.

Take note of the position of the card (whether it is upright or reversed), the arcana of the card (major or minor), and the symbols on them.

It is best if you have a handy guide beside you during this time so that you can connect the cards to your situation more effectively.

Make sure that you do not let your personal biases influence how you interpret the cards. Be as objective as you can, and accept the truths that your tarot reading has presented to you.

Take Note of the Results and Reflect

For this step, it is best if you have a dedicated tarot notebook where you can write all your spiritual interpretations.

This way, you will be able to look back as needed, as well as better process and understand the things that you have come to learn during your tarot readings.

You must also reflect on what the cards say about your situation.

Although some things can be hard to accept, you must strengthen your resolve to make the right decision needed for your current situation.

Thank Your Cards and Cleanse Your Sacred Space

Once you have finished your tarot reading, remember to say thank you to your cards. They are not just your divining tools, but also your companions in your journey towards connecting to the universe in a much deeper way. Say a sincere thank you to your deck and proceed in cleansing
it along with your sacred space.

How you do it is entirely up to you. As said, there are numerous implements and rituals for you to choose from. Choose what you feel most comfortable doing, and take your time as you do it.

Think of positive thoughts as you do it as well. This can help in preventing negative energies from influencing not just your readings, but your life as well.

Make sure to also keep your cards safe so that you can still do more readings with your deck for as long as you possibly can.
